Spyware Removal in Denver

Spyware is a common term these days in discussions about privacy and Internet use.  When it gets a foothold in your computer, it's hard to get anything done.  I think the term Foist-ware comes closer to describing what that software genre is that keeps unwanted content (ads) in front of us, directs our Internet Browser software to Porno, Casino, or other unwanted websites when we decide it’s time to go out cruising in Cyberspace.

You can live with the pestilence, hire someone to come out and clean things up, or educate yourself enough to know how to keep your system running the way it should.  But beyond running right, some of this stuff can watch you while you are entering your password to do your online banking, as well as set up shop to use your computer remotely whether you are trying to work or not.

If you are interested in scheduling a training seminar, we are now offering classes through Richardson Technology.  Please visit our seminar page to learn more about this service.

If you want to spend some time researching what all the different forms of malware are, here are some sites that usually have good information about the state of this "arms race":

This list is by no means exhaustive, but include recent instances of software that came bundled with Spyware/Adware I have come across: Huntbar,  BargainBuddy, ABetterInternet, Hotbar, Comet Cursor, Gator (GAIN)...  The primary symptoms of spyware infection are browser redirection and pop up ads.  If you are looking for free software to use in cleaning your system, here are two I've used in the past.  However, after doing a complete scan of my system using Spybot, I ran Webroot's highly acclaimed "SpySweeper" program for home computers and still found more spyware on my system.  So the old adage still holds true: You get what you pay for!

Updates are not offered as often as Spybot, but the software is easy to install and use.

Spybot is a manual Spyware cleaner.  Updates are made available often.  Realtime scanning is not an option, you have to run the program periodically.
